Hi
According to a study in the University of Michigan, announced Statins may reduce the risk of dementia and loss of memory.
But some people advice not to use statins in preventing dementia due to the side effects of drug.
Cholesterol-lowering statin drugs have had a rough time of it lately.
Thank you for sharing this article, this is very informative.
Thanks!

I also recommend eating blue berries I heard that is another good way to have a healthy cholesterol and it helps prevent from getting short term memory.
I'm only fifteen years old, but I've been doing research on this for a project I'm doing and I thought it was a really good idea to share.

Great post! I learned something that HDL can prevent memory loss. Thanks.

I've often wondered if too much is played on memory loss. I mean if you look at what man had to remember say a hundred years ago and what we have to know today - big difference - orders of magnitudes of differences.

I've heard it said that if you can't remember where you parked your car - well don't worry about that. If you forget how to drive your car - you've got a REAL PROBLEM.

This article presents another good reason why we should all strive to raise our HDL levels.

I guess it's worth mentioning the horrendous side effects of statins among them, "surprise" ... memory loss !
How about it?
C'mon please mention it!
We've heard so much about the "good" cholesterol and the "bad" cholesterol.
The $$$ from the statins sells all over the world roll and roll and roll on
What a big scam are all these cholesterol myths!
@Prayerful: How about god not giving you any health problems in the first place?

Poor - and not so poor if they are lazy and don't want to think- people scared into thinking that playing with LDL and HDL will actually help them on the long run.
The drug companies thank you very much, not loudly of course.

This is as much about faith as HDLs. I am 55. A year ago I prayed that my memory would return. i fully believed God would answer my prayer. Later on, I read an article about kids getting smarter from taking Omega-3 fish oil. When I tried it, my balding spot slowly disappered, so I continued. I then saw the Pericone Diet special on Public TV and found it increases HDLs and lowers LDLs. By now, the neuropathy (dying nerves) in my feet and legs was reversing - where numbness and stinging (simultaneously) proceeded to mic-calf, they became normal again. Other benefits accrued without the risks I learned of that statins represent. And presently, my memory is pretty good - I can evenremember the 20-digit keys on my software programs. I fact, I forgot I had a memory problem - to God be the glory.

Another option to consider for raising HDL: niacin. Alcohol in moderation can raise HDL. Add nuts to the diet.
