as a girl who went to a high school in small town texas where we had NO sex ed (and by the end of my sr. year 4 out of 60 graduating were preggers), swear on my life when the health teacher was asked about sex "the only think i can say is about abstinence." i can totally understand and see where this came from.

seriously we should reform our education system to add in some sex ed. should parents be teaching them these things, yes, but why not work together with the educators? because obviously kids are doing it anyways, might as well let them know what kind of outcomes it could have and the steps to prevent it. not to mention. and some cold hard facts about raising children. besides the fact that babies don't stay that way for long.

if you want to love something unconditionally get a dog...at least you won't have to put that thru college one day

"According to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, the teen birth rate is on the rise for the first time in 15 years. At present, 3 in 10 girls in the United States become pregnant by age 20. Despite a 38% decline between 1990 and 2004 (most recent data available), there are more than 729,000 teen pregnancies annually."

I guess abstinence programs are working! The "bury your head in the sand" method had its day in court. Time to let grownups back in the drivers seat.

They're talking about Knocked Up because God forbid they would actually suggest that these girls would take responsibility for their own actions. I'm sick and tired of how everybody tries to blame anyone but the parties involved for their own mistakes. They tried to blame Marilyn Manson for Columbine, it's the same old thing. Nobody wants to admit, hey maybe these girls did what they did because they wanted to.
