Just about every expert advises that proper hand hygiene is a basic step towards mitigating commonly transmitted germs and viruses--and while new strains of flu continue to appear--we can't discount the importance of making sure we're taking all appropriate precautionary steps.. Washing with (non-antimicrobial) soap and water has always been the most recommended...When washing with soap and water isn't convenient, appropriate hand sanitizer products--most logically those that are alcohol-free--yes alcohol-FREE is a pragmatic approach.... While alcohol-based sanitizers became defacto, thanks to a 1996 CDC white paper, in the last 12 years, a number of alternative, alcohol-free products that have come to market have proven to be not only as effective i.e. germ killing efficacy--but they're necessarily safer to use and friendlier to the skin. One of the fastest growing products is called Soapopular (uses benzalkonium chloride as the active ingredient)--others are out there too...but Soapopular is rinse free, fragrance free and dye free..with no after-application residue.
