Clothes are getting ready to enter the high tech world. You knew it was only a matter of time! European researchers are now saying the market is finally ready for high tech clothes that can monitor a person’s heart beat and other vital signs anywhere they go. This is a major turning point for clothing manufacturers everywhere.
But who the heck would want to monitor their vital signs, you say? Elderly people with heart conditions or those who are undergoing rehab of any form would be excellent candidates. These people require constant monitoring and there is a whole lot of them. Then there are the athletes, newborn babies and people who suffer from sleep apnea. This is another very large group of target consumers who are all very likely to be included in the plans.
The ideas don’t just stop there. If this technological advancement is also applied to location-based services, this kind of high-tech clothing could be used by soldiers and emergency task forces in a variety of extreme conditions. Comfortable undetectable, little sensors can now be woven into fabric and can collect information which can then be monitored through GPRS transmitters. There are really an infinite number of possibilities once the first prototypes begin to saturate the market.
Companies set to launch in these areas include Wealthy in Europe and MyHeart. A similar Spanish firm, WearTech is also jumping into the game which promises many profits in the near future.
